Job summary

Mayer LLP seeks an experienced attorney to join its litigation and insurance defense practice in Texas. The role emphasizes strategic defense work across transportation-related cases, requiring strong research, writing, and negotiation skills.

The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctor and Texas bar admission with 3+ years of relevant experience, and be capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid in-office/remote setting.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the State Bar of Texas.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in litigation/insurance defense.
• Strong research and writing skills.
• Excellent oral communication and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Represent clients in transportation-related incidents, including auto and truck accidents, at various proceedings.
• Provide defense strategies to individuals, businesses, and insurance companies in transportation and personal injury matters.
• Conduct investigations, analyze evidence, assess liability, and tailor defense strategies.
• Represent clients in negotiations, mediation, and court proceedings.
• Perform legal research and provide analysis on transportation and personal injury issues.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery requests; prepare for depositions, hearings, and trials.

Responsibilities

• Represent clients involved in various transportation related incidents, including auto accidents, tractor/trailer collisions, bus accidents, crane mishaps, dump truck incidents, fatalities, and motor vehicle accidents (MVA)
• Provide comprehensive legal counsel and defense strategies to individuals, businesses, and insurance companies operating within the transportation/trucking industry
• Conduct thorough investigations into accidents, analyze evidence, asses liability, and develop defense strategies tailored to each case's unique circumstances
• Represent clients in negotiations, mediation, and court proceedings
• Conduct legal research and provide legal analysis on various issues related to transportation and personal injury law
• Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery requests
• Prepare for and attend depositions, hearings, and trials
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
• Participate in case strategy discussions and negotiations
• Manage case files and maintain accurate and organized records
• Attend continuing legal education courses to stay current on legal developments

Experience

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
• Admission to the State Bar of Texas
• The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in litigation/insurance defense
• Strong research and writing skills
