Job summary

King & Wood, a large international law firm, seeks a California or New York qualified attorney with 3–5 years of corporate, M&A, private equity, or debt-financing experience at an international or U.S. law firm. You will be based in the Los Angeles/Pasadena area and must have fluent English with strong written and analytical skills.

Ideally, you hold a U.S. JD and are familiar with cross-border matters, including Mandarin exposure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Render general corporate law advice as needed
• Liaising with government authorities when required
• Taking an active role in the firm’s business development initiatives
• Help partners in building and managing client relationships

Our presence provides seamless cross-border legal services to multinational clients. We have extensive experience serving leading corporations and understand the complexities of international business.

You will:

• be California or New York qualified
• have gained 3-5 years of working experience in corporate, M&A, private equity, and/or debt financing at an international or U.S. law firm
• be fluent in English with strong written and analytical skills
• prepared to work from based off Los Angeles/Pasadena, California

Ideally, you will:

• hold J.D. Degree from a well-respected U.S. law school
• be reasonably familiar with the Chinese legal system
• be fluent in Mandarin (speaking, reading, and writing)

You should expect to be charged with the following tasks:

• legal and contract due diligence in corporate and M&A transactions
• assisting partners/senior attorneys in drafting and negotiating transaction documents in M&A, private equity, and cross-border transactions
• render general corporate law advice as needed
• liaising with government authorities when your transaction so requires
• taking an active role in the firm’s business development initiatives
• helping your partners in building on and managing client relationships

We’d also expect you to work to the highest professional and ethnical standards. Given the mix of our clientele base, you should also be amenable to working extended hours and across time zones from time to time.
