Position Overview
A leading national litigation firm is seeking a highly motivated Associate Attorney to join its California team. This hybrid position offers the opportunity to handle a diverse litigation practice, including General Liability, Construction Defect, Personal Injury, Insurance defense, Toxic Tort, Asbestos, and Silica matters. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation skills, excellent advocacy abilities, and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of General Liability, Construction Defect, Personal Injury, Insurance defense, Toxic Tort, Asbestos, and Silica litigation matters from inception through resolution.
- Conduct legal research and analyze complex liability, construction, and toxic tort issues.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, settlement agreements, and other litigation documents.
- Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, corporate representatives, and expert witnesses.
- Prepare clients and witnesses for depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trial.
- Develop litigation strategies while maintaining regular communication with clients, insurers, and other stakeholders.
- Represent clients in court appearances, mediations, arbitrations, and trials in state and federal courts.
- Assist with all phases of trial preparation, including drafting trial briefs, preparing jury instructions, organizing exhibits, and witness preparation.
- Collaborate with partners, attorneys, paralegals, and legal support staff to ensure efficient case management.
- Advise clients on litigation risk management, regulatory compliance, and liability prevention strategies.
- Maintain accurate timekeeping and billing records in accordance with firm and client guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong litigation, analytical, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in one or more of the following practice areas:
- General Liability
- Toxic Tort
- Insurance defense experience is highly preferred.
