Active Georgia bar, JD from an accredited school, and experience in litigation are preferred; familiarity with Clio and MS Office a plus.

  • Litigation experience preferred with knowledge of procedures.

Responsibilities

Title: Litigation Attorney

Summary

Thompson Mungo Firm is seeking a skilled and dependable Litigation Attorney to manage litigation matters and provide high-quality legal representation to the Firm's clients. This position is responsible for handling matters throughout the litigation process, including client communication, legal research, drafting pleadings and motions, discovery, negotiations, hearings, and other court proceedings.

Regular and reliable attendance at court proceedings is an essential function of this position. The Litigation Attorney must be willing and able to personally make required court appearances on behalf of the Firm and its clients, including hearings, conferences, motions, trials, and other proceedings as assigned.

The ideal candidate is organized, responsive, comfortable managing multiple matters and deadlines, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced legal environment.

Responsibilities
  • Appear in court on behalf of the Firm's clients as required, including hearings, motions, status conferences, trials, and other judicial proceedings.
  • Manage assigned litigation matters from initial engagement through resolution or closure.
  • Advise and communicate with clients regarding case status, legal strategy, upcoming deadlines, court appearances, and other developments.
  • Conduct legal research regarding applicable statutes, regulations, case law, and procedural requirements.
  • Draft, review, and revise pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, correspondence, and other legal documents.
  • Prepare for and participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, trials, and other litigation proceedings.
  • Conduct and respond to discovery and ensure compliance with applicable deadlines and court orders.
  • Communicate and negotiate professionally with opposing counsel, court personnel, clients, witnesses, and other parties.
  • Develop litigation strategies consistent with client objectives and the Firm's standards.
  • Maintain responsibility for the progression of assigned client matters and ensure deadlines, hearings, and other case requirements are appropriately calendared and addressed.
  • Maintain complete and accurate client files and case information within the Firm's designated case management system.
  • Enter all billable and non-billable time into Clio or the Firm's designated case management system on the same day the work is performed.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all client, Firm, and privileged information.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with current, former, and prospective clients.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, legal support staff, and Firm leadership to effectively manage client matters.
  • Perform other legal and professional duties as assigned to support the needs of the Firm and its clients.
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in the State of Georgia and in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia.
  • Ability and willingness to regularly make in-person and/or virtual court appearances as required by assigned matters.
  • Litigation experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Georgia court procedures, rules, filing requirements, and litigation practices.
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to independently manage cases, deadlines, hearings, and competing priorities.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional judgment and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet demanding deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to effectively use legal case management and electronic filing systems.
  • Experience with Clio or similar legal practice management software is preferred.
