Job summary

Jobot in Southfield, MI is seeking a Permanent Associate Attorney with a strong background in Insurance Defense, General Liability, Premises Liability, Transportation Defense, and related civil litigation to join our dynamic, on-site team.

You will represent clients in court, draft contracts and pleadings, conduct legal research, advise clients, negotiate settlements, and manage discovery and appeals, requiring a JD, Michigan Bar admission and at least five years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and draft legal documents such as wills, deeds, patent applications, mortgages, leases, and contracts.
• Provide legal advice to clients on their rights and obligations.
• Conduct research and analysis of legal problems to interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses.
• Negotiate settlements in civil disputes.
• Prepare legal briefs and opinions, and file appeals in state and federal courts of appeal.
• Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law.
• Communicate with clients, colleagues, judges and others involved in the case.
• Conduct pretrial discovery, and develop trial strategies.
