Job summary

HNE seeks an Associate Attorney to join its Texas litigation team. The role focuses on contested litigation involving residential real estate, title disputes, mortgage servicing, and foreclosure matters.

The ideal candidate will manage cases independently in a fast-paced environment with strong advocacy skills. Requirements include a J.D., active Texas Bar membership, 2–8 years of litigation experience related to real estate or foreclosure, and excellent writing/negotiation abilities.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Active member of the Texas State Bar in good standing.
  • 2–8 years of litigation experience, preferably in real estate, mortgage servicing, foreclosure, or related areas.
  • Strong legal writing, oral advocacy, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience handling hearings, mediations, depositions, and other litigation proceedings.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of contested litigation involving mortgage servicing, foreclosure, and real estate disputes.
  • Handle pre-litigation matters and assist with resolving title issues affecting residential real property.
  • Analyze cases and develop strategic recommendations to achieve client objectives.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and other litigation documents.
  • Conduct and defend depositions and manage all phases of discovery.
  • Represent clients at hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and court appearances in Texas.
  • Maintain proactive client communication and provide timely case updates and guidance.
  • Manage a high-volume caseload while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality.

Our client, a leading multi-state law firm representing financial institutions, mortgage servicers, investors, and commercial clients, is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Texas litigation team. This role focuses on handling contested litigation involving residential real estate, title disputes, mortgage servicing, and foreclosure matters. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation experience, excellent advocacy skills, and the ability to independently manage cases in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of contested litigation involving mortgage servicing, foreclosure, and real estate-related disputes
  • Handle pre-litigation matters and assist with resolving title issues affecting residential real property
  • Analyze cases and develop strategic recommendations to achieve client objectives
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and other litigation documents
  • Conduct and defend depositions and manage all phases of discovery
  • Represent clients at hearings, mediations, settlement conferences, and court appearances throughout Texas
  • Maintain proactive client communication and provide timely case updates and legal guidance
  • Manage a high-volume caseload while meeting deadlines and maintaining exceptional work quality
Qualifications

  • Knowledge of foreclosure processes and title-related matters preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with consumer protection statutes, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), is a plus
  • Ability to consistently manage billable expectations and a large caseload in a deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, and comfort working within technology-driven legal systems
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of prioritizing multiple matters simultaneously
  • Strong understanding of rules of evidence and courtroom procedures
  • Collaborative mindset with a commitment to exceptional client service and professional excellence
