Job summary

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and procedures.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to draft a wide variety of litigation documents, including discovery, motions, and client correspondence.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating with team members.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, legal technology, and case management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

  • Manage foreclosure, title, civil litigation, and related secured lending matters from referral through resolution.
  • Conduct initial file intake and analysis, developing case strategies and budgets within established timelines.
  • Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, dispositive motions, correspondence, and legal opinions.
  • Research and analyze statutes, regulations, case law, and legal authorities using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other research tools.
  • Review chain of title, foreclosure documents, pleadings, and related records to identify legal issues and risks.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, lenders, agents, opposing counsel, and court personnel regarding case developments and recommendations.
  • Appear in state courts throughout Oregon and, where applicable, Washington.
  • Conduct depositions, attend hearings, and provide timely post-appearance updates to clients.
  • Prepare reports, legal analyses, compliance-related correspondence, and client-facing communications.
  • Assist colleagues and support staff by serving as a legal resource and providing guidance on case-related issues.
  • Prioritize competing deadlines and adapt to changing litigation and client demands.
  • Participate in additional projects and assignments as needed.

The successful candidate will handle a broad range of matters involving foreclosure litigation, title disputes, civil litigation, and potential bankruptcy issues. Responsibilities include drafting pleadings and motions, conducting legal research, appearing in court, managing client communications, and developing case strategies from intake through resolution. Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in foreclosure, mortgage servicing, secured lending, creditor rights, or related litigation matters.
  • Experience handling title litigation, real estate disputes, or property-related legal matters.
  • Experience drafting and arguing motions, attending hearings, and appearing in court.
  • Bankruptcy experience, including creditor representation and related motion practice.
  • Experience taking or defending depositions.
  • Experience representing lenders, mortgage servicers, financial institutions, or investors.
  • Familiarity with Westlaw, LexisNexis, and advanced legal research methodologies.
