Job summary

Henderson Scott US is seeking an Associate Attorney focused on medical malpractice defense to join its litigation practice in the New York metro area. You will work alongside experienced trial attorneys representing hospitals and healthcare professionals in complex cases.

The ideal candidate is a strong litigator with ownership mindset, eager to develop courtroom, deposition, and motion skills while handling a high-volume caseload in a collaborative setting.

Qualifications

  • JD from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the New York State Bar
  • At least 2 years of civil litigation experience

Responsibilities

  • Manage a substantial caseload of medical malpractice defense matters from inception through resolution
  • Draft pleadings, discovery responses, motions, and other litigation documents
  • Conduct legal and medical research and analyze complex medical records
  • Handle discovery, including drafting and responding to requests
  • Appear in court for hearings, conferences, motions, and other proceedings
  • Prepare for and take or defend depositions of plaintiffs, experts, and witnesses
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding case status, risk assessments, and litigation strategy
  • Draft and argue dispositive and pre-trial motions
  • Work closely with Partners and senior attorneys to develop case strategy and achieve favorable outcomes

A well-established law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney with a focus on medical malpractice defense to join its growing litigation practice. This is an opportunity to work alongside experienced trial attorneys representing hospitals, healthcare organizations, physicians, and other healthcare professionals in complex malpractice matters.

The firm offers the opportunity to take meaningful ownership of cases while working closely with senior attorneys on sophisticated litigation and developing your trial skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a substantial caseload of medical malpractice defense matters from inception through resolution
  • Draft pleadings, discovery responses, motions, and other litigation documents
  • Conduct legal and medical research and analyze complex medical records
  • Handle discovery, including drafting and responding to requests
  • Appear in court for hearings, conferences, motions, and other proceedings
  • Prepare for and take or defend depositions of plaintiffs, experts, and witnesses
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding case status, risk assessments, and litigation strategy
