Job summary

LHH Recruitment Solutions is assisting an AmLaw 150 firm in Minneapolis to hire an Associate Attorney (ERISA/Employee Benefits). You will advise clients on ERISA matters, provide compliance counseling for qualified retirement plans, and draft benefits documentation.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of ERISA/employee benefits experience and must be admitted in MN or PA. The role offers exposure to M&A-related benefits, health and welfare plans, and controversy matters, with compensation around

Qualifications

• 3+ years of ERISA and employee benefits experience.
• Experience with compliance counseling, drafting, and transactional work.
• Knowledge of qualified retirement plans and health and welfare plans.
• ACA compliance and controversy experience.
• Executive compensation and/or ESOP experience preferred.
• Benefits controversy experience before the DOL/IRS is a plus.
• Excellent academic credentials.
• Exceptional research, writing, and communication skills.
• Must be admitted to practice in Minnesota or Pennsylvania.

• Advise clients on a broad range of employee benefits and ERISA matters
• Provide compliance counseling for qualified retirement plans, including multiemployer and defined benefit plans
• Counsel clients on health and welfare plan compliance, including Affordable Care Act issues and controversies
• Draft and review employee benefits documentation and related agreements
• Support employee benefits aspects of mergers and acquisitions transactions
• Handle benefits-related matters involving the Department of Labor and IRS
• Work on executive compensation arrangements and employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs)
• Can sit in Minneapolis or Pittsburgh

Ideal Background

• 3+ years of ERISA and employee benefits experience
• Experience with compliance counseling, drafting, and benefits-related transactional work
• Knowledge of qualified retirement plans and health and welfare plans
