Associate Attorney – Labor & Employment Litigation

Location: Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco CA | Job Type: Full-Time | In-Office

Based in Los Angeles, our firm has built a strong reputation across California for protecting workers' rights in cases involving discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, and other employment violations. We are currently seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join our Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco offices. This is an in-person position offering exceptional exposure to all stages of litigation, including depositions, motion practice, and trial work.

Position Overview

As an Associate at Shegerian & Associates, you will not be siloed or limited to document review. Our firm offers a unique opportunity for attorneys to gain immediate, substantive litigation experience. You will manage your own cases, appear in court, take and defend depositions, and contribute to trial preparation and strategy.

We offer a high level of autonomy while providing support and mentorship from experienced trial attorneys. This is an ideal position for someone who wants to grow into a highly capable litigator and build a career in employment law.

Responsibilities

• Handle employment law cases from intake through resolution
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, discovery, motions, and trial documents
• Take and defend depositions
• Argue motions and appear in court regularly
• Work closely with clients to develop case strategies and maintain communication
• Participate in mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations
• Assist in trial preparation and, when applicable, serve as second chair at trial

Qualifications

• Active member in good standing with the California State Bar
• 1–5 years of experience in civil litigation (employment law strongly preferred)
• Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
• Comfortable managing cases independently while working within a team
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to client service
• Trial preparation experience a plus
