Job summary

Qualifications

Job description

We are an immigration law firm, located in Bay Shore, New York. We are seeking to hire full-time associate attorneys to assist with litigation, client preparation, research, and document generation. Candidates should have some familiarity with immigration policies and procedures. However, we are willing to work with and mentor candidates who are interested in areas of family-based immigration, asylum, and removal defense proceedings. Candidates must be well organized, detail oriented and professional. Spanish or secondary language abilities are a plus, but not necessary. Applicants who will be sitting for the upcoming bar examination will also be considered.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough legal research using platforms such as Westlaw to support case preparation and strategy.
  • Draft legal documents, including motions, briefs, and appeals , ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings before the immigration court in Master Calendar and Individual Hearings, as well as before the family court in guardianship proceedings.
  • Represent clients before USCIS for family based petitions, applications for adjustment of status, asylum cases, and naturalization interviews.
  • Advise clients on legal rights and obligations.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex cases and contribute to case strategy development.
  • Maintain organized case files and documentation for all client matters.
  • Stay updated on changes in legislation and legal trends that may impact clients’ interests.
Requirements
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar in any state, preferably NY or NJ
  • Strong understanding of immigration law is preferred.
  • Proficiency in legal research methodologies and tools such as Westlaw.
  • Excellent legal drafting skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to clients and colleagues.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to think critically and solve problems efficiently.
  • Prior experience in a law office setting is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Spanish language proficiency is preferred but not required.
