Job summary

Circle Surrogacy, part of the NorthStar Fertility family, seeks an Associate Attorney to support our legal team assisting intended parents, surrogates, and egg donors. You will draft contracts, review insurance policies, and establish legal parentage rights in a dynamic, niche field.

Ideal candidates have strong communication, multitasking ability, and calm under pressure; experience with gestational surrogacy or egg donor agreements is a plus.

Qualifications

• JD required with license to practice law.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client interactions.
• Ability to manage a high caseload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
• Experience with surrogacy, egg donation contracts, or IP law is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research on ART, surrogacy, IP and related issues.
• Draft and negotiate contracts, including surrogacy or egg donation agreements.
• Manage caseload from initial intake through delivery and post-closer steps.
• Liaise with clinics, outside counsel, social workers, and accountants.
• Prioritize communications and respond within 48 business hours.
• Support other teams with projects, audits, and contract reviews.

We are seeking an Associate Attorney to play an integral role assisting our legal team in providing services for intended parents, surrogates, and egg donors throughout their journey. The position will allow person to draft contracts, review and analyze insurance contracts and policies, assist intended parents in establishing their legal parentage rights and learn and grow in an ever changing and niche field of law of assisted reproductive technology. Candidates should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to multitask and maintain a calm demeanor in stressful situations, critical thinking and problem -solving skills, and an interest and/or experience in the field.

What you'll do:

• Legal research on topics related to assisted reproductive technology and legal issues impacting assisted reproductive technology and IP, surrogate, donor relationships. Proficiency in West Law preferred.
• Contract drafting and negotiating. Experience in gestational surrogacy or egg donation contracts preferred, but not a requirement.
• Managing caseload of intended parents independently from initial client sign on through delivery of child and return home.
• Working directly with clients and third parties, such as IVF Clinics and outside attorneys, as well as Circle’s social workers, program coordinators, and trust accountants.
• Ability to manage high email volume and to prioritize important communications and respond within forty-eight (48) business hours.
• Additional tasks as assigned, such as helping other teams with various projects, trainings, and helping with insurance reviews and appeals.
