You will handle discovery, drafting, and case preparation across business, employment, trust & estate, and matrimonial matters, working with senior attorneys to meet deadlines and case commitments.

Licensed to practice in New York and strong written/verbal communication are essential.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of Law Firm litigation experience.
• Experience drafting pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents.
• Proficient legal research and memo writing.
• Ability to manage cases from inception through discovery and pre-trial.

Our client is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join their legal team.

About the Opportunity

Our client, a well-respected litigation boutique based in Rochester, NY, is looking for a strong Associate Attorney with 2-5 years of litigation experience. This role is responsible for handling discovery, research, drafting, and case preparation across business litigation, employment law, trust & estate litigation, and matrimonial law matters, while working closely with senior attorneys to meet case commitments.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents
• Conduct legal research and prepare written legal memoranda
• Manage discovery production and responses, including ESI and document review
• Prepare and respond to interrogatories, requests for admission, and subpoenas
• Assist in factual investigation and analysis for ongoing cases
• Work closely with lead attorneys on day-to-day tasks and case strategy
• Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with procedural deadlines
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to case planning
• Other litigation-related tasks as assigned

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of law firm litigation experience (must have worked full weeks in a firm setting; not a new graduate)
• Solid experience with discovery, document production, and evidence handling
• Demonstrated experience drafting pleadings, conducting legal research, and preparing written analysis
• Comfortable working on cases from inception through discovery and pre-trial
• Experience working on professional litigation matters, preferably: Business litigation, employment defense, and/or
• Insurance defense (e.g., PI, torts, court litigation) considered (workers' comp experience alone is not sufficient)
• Professional demeanor with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple assignments
• Polished, ethical work style and high level of professionalism expected
