Qualifications

• J.D. degree and active California State Bar membership in good standing.
• 2+ years of plaintiff-side wage-and-hour and PAGA litigation experience.

Responsibilities

• Vet cases after intake and interview prospective clients.
• Analyze payroll, timekeeping, personnel files, and company policies to identify violations.

About The Role:

Help Build the Case Before Litigation Begins.

Our Pre-Litigation Team is where strong wage and hour class actions and PAGA cases take shape. From evaluating potential claims and identifying legal issues to developing case strategy and preparing matters for filing, you'll play a key role in determining which cases move forward and how they're positioned for success.

This isn't a traditional litigation role. We're looking for an attorney who understands the litigation process, knows what makes a strong case, and wants to apply that experience and legal judgment at the front end, before handing matters off to our litigation teams.

Responsibilities:

• Vet cases after intake: review intake materials, interview prospective clients, and investigate facts to assess viability.
• Analyze payroll, timekeeping, personnel files, and company policies to identify violations and estimate exposure.
• Recommend claims, strategies, and theories to pursue.
• Draft complaints and PAGA notices.
• Research wage-and-hour, PAGA, arbitration, and class certification issues, and prepare cases for transition to litigation teams.
• Take ownership of cases vetting through filing, tracking deadlines, SOL, and priority issues.
• Communicate with clients throughout the pre-litigation and filing process.
• Work with the intake, vetting, and litigation teams, and help improve how we work-up cases.

Required:

• J.D. and active California State Bar membership in good standing.
• 2+ years of litigation experience in wage + hour and PAGA class actions (plaintiff-side).
• Hands-on experience with motions for class certification and/or oppositions to motions to compel arbitration.
• Strong writing, research, and issue-spotting skills.
