Job summary

Ascendion, a national law firm, seeks a Litigation Associate with 2-4 years of defense litigation experience to join its growing litigation practice. You will handle all stages from pre-suit through trial and appeal, gaining hands-on experience on high-exposure matters with experienced litigators.

The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, highly motivated, and able to develop trial skills while collaborating with colleagues across offices in a team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 2+ years of defense litigation experience.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all stages of litigation from pre-suit to appeal.
• Conduct legal and factual research on individuals, businesses, and industry matters.
• Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda, and client communications.
• Assist with case strategy development and trial preparation.
• Prepare witnesses for depositions and trial proceedings.
• Attend depositions, hearings, mediations, and other litigation proceedings.
• Manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

This position offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated, high-exposure litigation matters and gain hands-on experience throughout all phases of the litigation process, from initial case assessment through trial and appeal.

The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, highly motivated, and eager to develop trial skills while working alongside experienced litigators in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all stages of litigation, including pre-suit investigations, discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and appeals
• Conduct legal and factual research involving individuals, businesses, and industry-specific matters
• Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda, and client communications
• Assist with case strategy development and trial preparation activities
• Prepare witnesses and clients for depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial proceedings
• Attend and participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and other litigation-related proceedings
• Manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced practice environment

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
• Active bar admission and good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
• 2+ years of defense litigation experience required
• Experience in product liability, toxic tort, or other complex litigation matters is a plus
• Strong academic credentials and excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under tight deadlines
• Self-starter with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
• Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to exceptional client service
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues across offices

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $125,000 - $145,000 annually.
