Job description

Responsibilities

The Multifamily Preferred Equity - Asset Management Associate will focus on all aspects of asset management and investor reporting for RFM’s Multifamily Preferred Equity strategy. This position is based in New York (Related’s Hudson Yards office) and reports to the SVP of the Multifamily Preferred Equity strategy. Responsibilities include:

  1. Financial analysis, including building detailed financial models in Excel to perform quarterly valuation and monthly performance analysis across individual multifamily preferred equity investments and the wider portfolio.
  2. Proactively review monthly property operating reports to identify and track operating performance trends, budget variances, and significant market changes.
  3. Monitor and ensure compliance with all guidelines in the preferred equity operating agreement and senior loan documents.
  4. Monitor and report on the existing portfolio by working with third-party vendors, tracking performance via Excel, and preparing internal quarterly asset management meetings.
  5. Assist in reviewing monthly distributions and construction draws, including cash flow analysis and invoice verification.
  6. Audit internal Excel tools monthly to ensure system accuracy and functionality.
  7. Prepare investor presentations as needed.
  8. Occasional travel for due diligence trips across the United States.
Compensation
  • $140,000 - $160,000 per year
  • Annual performance-based bonus
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in real estate, investment banking, accounting, or finance.
  • Understanding of real estate credit and the multifamily landscape.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and modeling skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills at all levels.
  • Strategic thinking, innovation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ownership mentality and strong interpersonal skills: adaptive, assertive, professional, and a leader.
  • High integrity and ethics, valuing entrepreneurialism and innovation.
  • Ability to work well in groups and independently.
  • Attention to detail and a desire to grow and succeed.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, or computer/data science required; Master’s Degree preferred.
