ResponsibilitiesThe Multifamily Preferred Equity - Asset Management Associate will focus on all aspects of asset management and investor reporting for RFM’s Multifamily Preferred Equity strategy. This position will be based in New York (in Related’s Hudson Yards office) and will report to the SVP of the Multifamily Preferred Equity strategy. Responsibilties include:
- Financial analysis, including building detailed financial models in Excel to perform quarterly valuation and monthly performance analysis across individual multifamily preferred equity investments and the wider multifamily preferred equity portfolio.
- Proactively review monthly property operating reports to help identify and track operating performance trends, operating budget variances, and significant changes in the assets and their respective markets.
- Monitor and track compliance of all guidelines in the preferred equity operating agreement between RFM and sponsor in addition to senior loan documents.
- Monitoring and reporting on the existing portfolio, which includes; i) closely working with third-party vendors such as our loan servicer, construction monitoring engineers, fund admins, and other outside parties, ii) monthly performance tracking of assets and the overall portfolio via detailed analysis utilizing Excel tools, iii) preparation and coordination of internal quarterly asset management meetings to review the performance of individual investments and the overall portfolio with the entire Multifamily Preferred Equity team.
- Assist the Multifamily Preferred Equity team in reviewing monthly distributions and construction draws, which requires available cash flow analysis, invoice verification and other audit related activities.
- Auditing internal Excel tools on a monthly basis to ensure systems are working and data is accurate.
- Help prepare investor presentations on an ad hoc basis.
- Occasional due diligence trips to monitor existing investments throughout the United States.
Compensation
- $140,000 - $160,000 / year
- Annual performance based bonus
Qualifications- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in real estate, investment banking, accounting, or finance.
- Understanding of real estate credit and the multifamily landscape.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and modeling skills are required.
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Exceptional time management and prioritization are necessary to succeed in a fast-paced environment where the Asset Management Associate will be required to manage multiple projects with significant responsibilities and competing priorities.
