Job summary

Lefrak Organization in New York, NY is seeking an experienced real estate asset management professional to provide strategic financial and operational insights across an 18,000+ unit multifamily portfolio. You will partner with leadership, Property Management, and Accounting to influence decisions and improve processes.

The Associate will support budgeting, reporting, and performance analyses to optimize portfolio value and ROI, while mentoring junior analysts and driving cross-team

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • 3–5 years in real estate asset management with solid knowledge of property-level financial statements.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency with budgeting and financial modeling.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed annual budgets, monthly/quarterly reporting, financial forecasts, capital plans, and variance analyses.
  • Monitor leasing, occupancy, operating expenses, and capital expenditures.
  • Develop financial/operational reports for revenue optimization and cost management.
  • Review reports for accuracy and clarity of trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Research market trends and benchmark against competitors for actionable insights.
  • Track capital projects and ensure alignment with scope and ROI expectations.
  • Deliver asset reporting to the Asset Manager on operating metrics and milestones.
  • Support system enhancements, process improvements, and special projects as needed.
  • Mentor junior analysts as applicable.

Salary Range: $115,000.00 To $125,000.00 Annually

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced real estate professional to play a key role in residential asset management, providing strategic financial and operational insights while directly impacting portfolio performance. The Associate will serve as a trusted partner to leadership, Property Management, and Accounting teams, contributing to decision-making and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the preparation of detailed annual budgets, monthly/quarterly property and portfolio reporting, financial forecasts, capital plans, and variance analyses.
  • Monitor leasing, pricing, occupancy, operating expenses, and capital expenditures.
  • Develop and maintain customized financial and operational reports to support corporate initiatives, including revenue optimization, cost management and utility consumption tracking.
  • Review analyst reports for accuracy. Ensure reports clearly communicate key trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Research economic, demographic, and industry trends; benchmark against competitors; and deliver actionable insights that inform portfolio decisions.
  • Track capital projects and renovations, ensuring alignment with approved scope, timing, and return expectations.
  • Deliver clear, concise asset reporting to the Asset Manager on key operating metrics, financial performance, and project milestones.
  • Support system enhancements, process improvements, and special projects as needed.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior analysts as applicable.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college or university (Finance, Real Estate, Accounting, Economics, or related field preferred).
  • 3-5 years of experience in real estate asset management with a solid understanding of property-level financial statements, multifamily experience strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency, including building and maintaining budgets and financial models, with a command of complex formulas and the ability to turn analysis into clear strategy.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical mindset, and ability to balance detail with big-picture thinking.
  • Excellent communication skills—able to influence, present, and partner effectively with stakeholders at every level.
  • Experience with Yardi or similar property management/accounting systems preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of accountability for key responsibilities and quality of deliverables, while maintaining a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
