Job summary

Marx Okubo is seeking an Associate Architect to join our Atlanta team to lead technical efforts on a range of commercial projects. You will collaborate with our in-house team on envelope reviews, building evaluations, and site visits, supporting design through construction.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s in Architecture and 7–12 years of industry experience, with strong skills in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, and related tools, and a readiness to travel regionally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture required.
• 7–12 years of industry-related experience preferred.
• Technical understanding of most building types.
• Thorough knowledge of construction processes, activities, and scheduling.
• Construction administration, project management, or owner's representative experience preferred.
• Understanding of contract types and forms.
• Strong knowledge of building materials and enclosures, structures, and systems.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, Box (or equivalent).
• High-level organizational, time management, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Act as a technical team member and project lead.
• Collaborate with the Marx Okubo project team on building envelope reviews and evaluations.
• Build rapport with clients, internal team, consultants, and site contacts.
• Learn and convey an understanding of the client's project(s).
• Review and analyze building construction and conditions, perform evaluations on existing/new construction.
• Review and analyze contract documents including drawings, specs, contracts, and budgets.
• Prepare formal reports.
• Travel to client sites and office as needed, locally and regionally (25–50%).

We're adding an Associate Architect to our team in Atlanta. We're in the office two days a week, on site visits as needed, and work from home options for the remainder of the week. Our work covers most commercial building types, including multi-family, office, retail, industrial, mixed use, and hotel/hospitality.

Essential Functions

• Act as a technical team member and project lead

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree or higher inArchitecture
• 7-12 yearsindustry relatedexperience preferred
• Technical level understanding of most building types
• Thorough understanding of construction processes, activities and scheduling
• Construction administration, project management or owner’s representative experience preferred
• Understanding of construction contract types and forms
• Solid understanding of building materials and methods and the technical aspects of building enclosures, structures, and systems
• Working knowledge of accessibilitystandards(FFHA and ADA) a plus
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, Box or equivalent
• High-level organizational, time management, communication, and collaboration skills
• Willingness to travel

Physical Requirements

• Candidates should have the ability to:
• Operate a computer (keyboarding) and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copier/scanner/printer
• Use visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens
• Move through construction and existing building sites over rough terrain
• See and respond to dangerous situations
• Respond quickly to sounds
• Ascend and descend ladders and stairs
• Move safely through confined spaces and narrow paths
• Work in outdoor weather conditions or unconditioned areas
• Travel approximately 25-50% of the time both in and out of state
