Job summary

Marx Okubo Associates, Inc. in Atlanta is seeking an Associate Architect to join a national architecture/engineering/construction consulting team.

The role blends office collaboration with site visits and some remote work, supporting commercial real estate projects across multiple sectors. You will lead technical analyses, envelope reviews, and project coordination, with travel and client interaction central to the position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Architecture.
  • 7–12 years industry related experience preferred.
  • Technical understanding of most building types.
  • Thorough understanding of construction processes, activities and scheduling.
  • Construction administration, project management or owner’s representative experience preferred.
  • Understanding of construction contract types and forms.
  • Solid understanding of building materials and methods and enclosures, structures, and systems.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (FFHA and ADA) a plus.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, Box or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational, time management, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a technical team member and project lead.
  • Collaborate within a Marx Okubo project team, using strong technical knowledge in building envelope reviews and evaluations in building design construction and post-occupancy.
  • Build rapport with the client, internal team, consultants and site contact.
  • Learn and convey an overall understanding of the clients' projects supported.
  • Review and analyze building construction and condition, perform building evaluations on existing and new construction.
  • Review and analyze contract documents including drawings, specifications, contracts and budgets.
  • Prepare formal reports.
  • Travel to client sites and office as needed, locally and regionally, approximately 25-50%.

We're adding an Associate Architect to our team in Atlanta. We're in the office two days a week, on site visits as needed, and work from home options for the remainder of the week. Our work covers most commercial building types, including multi-family, office, retail, industrial, mixed use, and hotel/hospitality.

Essential Functions
  • Act as a technical team member and project lead

Physical Requirements
  • Candidates should have the ability to:
  • Operate a computer (keyboarding) and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copier/scanner/printer
  • Use visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens
  • Move through construction and existing building sites over rough terrain
  • See and respond to dangerous situations
  • Respond quickly to sounds
  • Ascend and descend ladders and stairs
  • Move safely through confined spaces and narrow paths
  • Work in outdoor weather conditions or unconditioned areas
  • Travel approximately 25-50% of the time both in and out of state
