Job summary

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking an Associate Project Archaeologist for the Rocky Mountain Plains subregion. This role is based out of the Minneapolis/St.

Paul, MN office or the Bismarck, ND office, with flexible options for nearby candidates. You will assist on cultural resource projects from pre-field reviews to agency deliverables, coordinating with managers and field teams in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field.
• 3+ years of cultural resources management experience with increasing responsibility.
• 1+ year managing archaeological projects across regions and agencies.
• Experience with NEPA, NAGPRA, NHPA sections 106/110.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively; strong communicator.

Responsibilities

• Assist project managers on budgeting, scheduling, fieldwork, and reporting.
• Conduct background research and organize preliminary work before field tasks.
• Coordinate with agencies, subconsultants, and monitors for fieldwork.
• Supervise field teams and ensure data quality and completeness.
• Maintain safe operations and communicate budget/timeline needs.
