Job summary

Cogniify, Inc. is seeking an Associate AI & Agentic Engineer for an early-career opening focused on building AI-enabled applications, prototypes, prompts, tests, documentation and agentic automations.

You will work with senior engineers and cross‑functional colleagues to translate requirements into small software components, scripts and tests, while learning lifecycle practices, security expectations and responsible AI standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Software Engineering or related field.
• 0–2 years of experience in software engineering, data science, automation or related technical work.
• A portfolio or GitHub with coding, automation, AI, data or problem-solving projects.
• Familiarity with data structures, APIs, Git, debugging, testing and documentation.
• Introductory knowledge of AI, machine learning, generative AI, LLMs, prompt engineering.

Responsibilities

• Build simple AI-enabled prototypes, internal tools and workflow automations.
• Turn clearly defined requirements into small software components, scripts, prompts and tests.
• Support prompt engineering, basic agent workflows, retrieval-assisted use cases and API integrations.
• Use approved AI coding assistants and agentic coding tools to learn, prototype, document and improve code with review.
• Write and run basic unit tests, validation checks and troubleshooting steps.
• Maintain documentation such as setup notes, design summaries, prompt and specification notes, user instructions and runbooks.
• Take part in code reviews, demos, testing sessions, backlog discussions and team learning.
• Follow policies on data privacy, information security, access control, compliance and responsible AI use.

TheRole

Cogniify is hiring an Associate AI & Agentic Engineer for anearly-career opening focused on building AI-enabled applications, prototypes,prompts, tests, documentation and agentic automations. This role works closelywith senior engineers and with both technical and non-technical colleagues, andis designed to help you grow in software development lifecycle practices,security expectations and responsible AI standards.

You will turn clearly defined requirements into small softwarecomponents, scripts, prompts and test cases, support basic agent workflows andAPI integrations, and use approved AI coding tools with appropriate review.This is an individual contributor role with coaching from senior team membersand no travel expected.

WhatYou Will Do

WhatWe Are Looking For

• Entry-level role: 0–2 years ofexperience in software engineering, data science, automation or relatedtechnical work. Internships, academic or research projects, open-sourcecontributions, hackathons and personal portfolio work all count.


• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science,AI, Data Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or an equivalentcombination of education and experience.


• A portfolio, GitHub repository, classproject, internship deliverable or capstone project that shows coding,automation, AI, data or problem-solving skills.


• Basic understanding of softwarefundamentals: data structures, APIs, Git, debugging, testing and documentation.


• Introductory knowledge of AI, machinelearning, generative AI, LLMs, prompt engineering or data science.


• Ability to learn and use approvedAI-assisted development tools responsibly, with coaching from senior teammembers.


• Ability to learn quickly, thinkcritically, pay close attention to detail and ask good questions whenrequirements or approaches are unclear.


• Clear written and verbal communication,including explaining your work to technical and non-technical colleagues.


• Ability to apply responsible AI, dataprivacy, information security and ethical technology practices day to day.

PreferredExperience

• Basic familiarity with cloud platforms,databases, REST APIs, notebooks or data tools.
