Under the direction of an Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor), the incumbent maintains fiscal integrity in accordance with sound accounting principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), State Administrative Manual (SAM), and State and Federal regulations. Incumbent is responsible for developing, testing, and implementing the Department’s Indirect Rate Proposal (ICRP) consistent with Title 2 in the Code of Federal Regulations, State Senate Bill 45, and the State Administrative Manual. Records and reconciles assigned transactions posted to the Department’s financial book of record. Responsible for independently performing the most complex analytical accounting duties. The incumbent has in-depth knowledge of fund accounting, financial reporting requirements, budget act language and related legislation, coding structure for financial controls, and financial statements. Vacation may be restricted during July and August due to year end tasks and financial reporting deadlines.

This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans’s evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
