Job summary

Scaled Composites, founded in 1982, is seeking an Associate Accountant to join our accounting team in Mojave, CA. This entry‑level role supports daily accounting functions, month‑end activities, project accounting, and government compliance, while gaining exposure to CAS, FAR, and DCAA requirements.

You will work with a fast‑paced, innovative environment, assisting with billing, cost reporting, and financial analysis to support program teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Prior accounting experience preferred; internships or coursework considered in lieu of formal work history.
• Solid understanding of GAAP concepts from coursework.
• Ability to learn accounting systems such as Deltek Costpoint.
• Ability to obtain and/or maintain DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in the monthly accounting close process, including reconciliations and journal entry preparation.
• Supporting Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger activities as needed.
• Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation for audits and internal controls.
• Assisting with government compliance tasks related to CAS, FAR, and DCAA requirements (prior experience preferred but not required).
• Supporting project accounting activities such as billing, funding tracking, and cost reporting.
• Preparing basic financial reports and participating in data analysis for Program teams.
• Contributing to continuous improvement of accounting workflows and system processes.
• Providing administrative and analytical support to senior accounting staff.
• Participating in special projects and cross functional tasks as assigned.
