Scaled Composites LLC is seeking a Staff Accountant to join the Accounting team in Mojave, CA. This role supports financial integrity, government compliance, and program performance through close processes, internal controls, and analytical insights for leadership.

Responsibilities include leading the monthly close, assisting program teams with reporting and cost analysis, and driving improvements in financial systems and workflows while maintaining compliance with CAS/FAR and DCAA standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline.
• 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably in government contracts.
• Strong government contract accounting background with CAS/FAR exposure.
• Proficiency with accounting software and GAAP knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly accounting close processes.
• Support government regulatory compliance including DCAA readiness.
• Provide program cost analysis and ad hoc reporting.
• Improve accounting procedures and internal controls.

Summary:

Founded in 1982 by legendary aircraft designer Burt Rutan, Scaled Composites is an aerospace company continually working to push boundaries, prove out ideas, and influence the future. We are a rapid prototyping and manufacturing facility, designing, building, and testing proof-of-concept and prototype vehicles. Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Leading and managing the monthly accounting close process.
• Supporting government regulatory compliance, including DCAA audit readiness and adherence to CAS/FAR requirements.
• Assisting Program teams with ad hoc reporting, program cost analysis, and financial insights.
• Driving continuous improvement of accounting procedures, internal controls, and financial reporting processes.
• Examining, analyzing, and interpreting complex financial data and presenting findings clearly to management.
• Recommending improvements to financial systems and reporting workflows.
• Acting as a backup for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger functions as needed.
• Participating in special projects, research initiatives, and cross‑functional tasks as assigned.
• Contributing to maintaining audit readiness, documentation standards, and compliance across all financial operations.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline PLUS 4+ years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong government contract accounting background, including CAS, FAR, and hands‑on DCAA compliance preferred
• Solid understanding of project accounting concepts: contract types and funding/billing structures
• Proficient in computerized accounting systems; Deltek Costpoint strongly preferred
• Prior experience with Cognos 8 or similar reporting/query tools appreciated.
• Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.
