Job summary

Genworth CareScout is seeking an Associate Accountant to support withholding tax filings and accounting for the USLI Closed Block team. This role offers a hybrid schedule with in-office days Tue–Thu and options in Richmond or Lynchburg, VA.

You’ll prepare state and federal filings, manage reconciliations, and collaborate with auditors. Strong Excel skills and project mindset are essential to drive efficiency and accuracy in monthly close and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent accounting experience.
• Project management and process improvement experience from a functional perspective.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities.
• Advanced Excel skills and technology proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Prepare State and Federal tax filings monthly, quarterly, and annually.

This position is available to Virginia residents as Richmond or Lynchburg, Virginia in-office applicants

*A Hybrid schedule of both Remote and In-Office days is required. In office days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with working hours targeting our core business hours of 9am-5pm EST.

YOUR ROLE

The position serves as an Associate Accountant that supports withholding tax filings and performs accounting processes for the USLI Closed Block team.

What you will be doing

• Prepares State and Federal tax filings (monthly, quarterly, annually)
• Monitor and reconcile Federal and State withholding payments
• Work with various agencies to resolve tax disputes or discrepancies
• Automate and maintain existing Account Reconciliations in CERT
• Performs Quarterly Account Rec preparation and review
• Completes monthly close processes including journal entries, analysis, balancing and reconciliations
• Leads process improvement initiatives including organizing teams, requirements gathering, solution identification, issue resolution and process implementation
• Assist with accounting discrepancies including providing research and guidance on admin system processes and general ledger
• Support and complete KPMG and GCAS audit request
• Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives
• Participate as a surge resource as needed

COMPENSATION

Lynchburg Range: $53,000 - $77,000

National Range: $55,800 – 81,000

Disclaimer: This role is aligned to a national market-based pay range. Actual compensation will vary based on geographic location, experience, skills, and other job-related factors. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible to participate in a bonus incentive plan. Incentive compensation is based on individual and company performance and is not guaranteed.
