Job description

Our client is a science driven life sciences investment firm with more than $3bn+ of capital raised since inception and a flexible mandate spanning venture, crossover, company creation, and public market investing. The firm recently closed an oversubscribed $1bn+ Fund and has continued to expand its investment platform across private and public biotechnology investing.

The team is looking to add an Associate in the New York City Area. This is a rare opportunity to work directly alongside a small group of highly respected investors and gain exposure across every stage of the investment lifecycle, from sourcing and diligence through execution, portfolio support, and board exposure.

The ideal candidate is deeply scientific and clinically oriented. The team spends significant time evaluating novel biology, therapeutic platforms, clinical data, regulatory strategy, and competitive landscapes. They are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys digging into primary literature, debating mechanisms of action, understanding clinical trial design, and developing differentiated views on where innovation is heading.

The firm's mandate is intentionally broad. Investments span private and public therapeutics companies, and the team has backed a number of high profile businesses across biotech over the last several years. The environment is entrepreneurial, collaborative, and highly meritocratic, with meaningful opportunities for advancement as the platform continues to grow.

  • Evaluate investment opportunities across therapeutics, biotechnology, and broader life sciences
  • Conduct deep scientific and clinical diligence, including analysis of preclinical studies, clinical trial data, regulatory pathways, and competitive landscapes
  • Develop investment theses and present recommendations to senior investors
  • Source new opportunities through academic, clinical, industry, and investment networks
  • Support portfolio companies through strategic initiatives, financings, business development efforts, and board related activities
  • Build expertise within one or more therapeutic areas and become a thought partner to the broader investment team
  • Attend scientific conferences, medical meetings, and industry events to generate investment insights and proprietary opportunities
  • Collaborate across venture, crossover, and public market investments
Qualifications
  • MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent advanced scientific or clinical degree strongly preferred
  • 1-4 years of relevant experience in venture capital, crossover investing, public equities, equity research, investment banking, strategy consulting, or a scientific operating role
  • Strong understanding of drug development, clinical trial design, and regulatory processes
  • Ability to independently analyze scientific and clinical data and form differentiated investment views
  • Passion for scientific literature and emerging innovation in biotechnology
  • Strong financial and analytical foundation, with an interest in further developing investment judgment
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with founders, management teams, KOLs, and senior investors
  • Humble, intellectually curious, and comfortable operating in a fast paced environment
Offering in Return
  • Direct mentorship from highly regarded biotech investors
  • Exposure across venture, crossover, company creation, and public market investing on a single platform
  • Opportunity to work on investments from initial sourcing through board level involvement
  • Lean team structure with significant responsibility early in your career
  • Competitive cash compensation and meaningful long term economic upside
  • Career track role with a firm that has historically promoted from within as it continues to scale

This is an ideal role for someone who is first and foremost excited by groundbreaking science and wants to build a career as a long term biotech investor while learning from a team that has successfully invested across private and public market
