Job summary

Fragomen is seeking a Business Immigration Associate in Pittsburgh. You will develop case strategies, draft and review documents, and counsel clients and foreign nationals. You will work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring quality and timely submissions.

The ideal candidate has a US JD or LLM, is admitted to a US state bar, and has 2–3 years of associate immigration experience with excellent communication and client service skills.

Qualifications

  • US JD or LLM required.
  • Washington DC or US state bar admission preferred.
  • 2–3 years of associate-level immigration experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop case strategies and research immigration issues.
  • Draft, review, and prepare petitions and letters for clients.
  • Counsel clients and foreign nationals on processing steps.
  • Manage escalations and coordinate with teams to improve processes.
  • Mentor junior associates and share immigration knowledge.
  • Ensure compliance with firm standards and client SLAs.

Identify and solve escalations and areas of underperformance.Regularly communicate with clients and foreign nationals regarding procedural, case processing issues, and case strategy.Support clients in immigration program management and compliance.Assess eligibility of corporate foreign national employees for non-immigrant and immigrant visa status.Work with client global mobility personnel to prepare petitions and applications for submission to government agencies for non-immigrant and immigrant foreign national employees.Draft and prepare letters and legal documents, typically based on established precedents.Conduct research to support client requests and projects.Proactively communicate with clients, within SLAs/team protocols and with a precise, efficient, thoughtful, and organized response.Partner with colleagues to resolve client issues, share information, and support client projects.Directly or indirectly supervise junior Associates and other staff, providing mentoring and coaching while proactively sharing immigration knowledge and expertise.Regularly seek out and implement opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and standardization with processes, products, or services.Demonstrate a willingness to learn and effectively implement guidance and direction offered by supervisors and experienced colleagues.Use firm technology accurately and in line with team and client protocols, ensuring accurate and complete data is entered.Actively contribute to team meetings and firmwide activities.Ensure self and team follow documented firm standards and policy to mitigate risk and ensure regulatory, operational and client compliance.Other duties as required.Leverage your valuable skills and experience to make an impact at Fragomen:U.S. JD or LLM requiredMember of a US State bar or Washington DC bar association2-3 years of experience at Associate levelExpanded practical understanding of immigration lawExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to proofread documents, draft fluent prose, and avoid grammatical mistakes without the aid of AI enginesDedication to exceptional client serviceDemonstrated attention to detailStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with competing demandsAbility to contribute to a positive work environmentBenefits:At Fragomen, we know that great people make a great organization.
