What does the Health Services Director do?

The Health Services Director oversees the health services department of an assisted living community, ensuring resident care needs are met through assessments, care planning, coordination, management of health service systems, and supervision and training of team members.

Daily responsibilities of the Health Services Director:
  1. Implement a resident-centered approach, respecting residents' rights and dignity.
  2. Perform assessments and develop individualized care plans, managing resident care proactively.
  3. Evaluate residents' health status and coordinate care with team members.
  4. Participate in resident move-in processes, considering community capacity and resident needs.
  5. Coordinate with healthcare professionals and oversee ancillary services.
  6. Communicate with residents’ families and provide education and support.
  7. Supervise and train health services staff, managing delegation of nursing tasks as per law.
Qualifications:

Must hold an unencumbered LPN/LVN or RN license, with a preference for RN. Experience in geriatric nursing, medication management, case management, staff training, budgeting, and team management is preferred. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required.
