Job summary

Westminster Bradenton is seeking a compassionate Lead LPN for a full-time day shift (7am-3pm) at its Bradenton, FL campus. The role includes supervising CNAs, administering medications, and coordinating daily nursing care for residents in a waterfront life plan community.

Must be licensed as an LPN in Florida and CPR certified; influenza vaccination is expected during flu season. Prior long-term care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be currently licensed in Florida as an LPN.
• CPR Certification required.
• One year of long-term care experience desirable.
• Willing to receive influenza vaccine during flu season.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate care and ensure continuity of service.
• Supervise CNAs as Charge Nurse; ensure compliance with physician orders.
• Implement resident care per physician orders; document admissions in ECS.
• Assist with evaluation of residents for medical needs.
• Plan resident care based on physician orders and enter orders into ECS.
• Ensure residents receive medications per doctor’s orders and perform medication pass.
• Maintain medication cart and audit PRN and controlled medicines.
• Perform skin evaluations and treatments per protocol.
• Monitor blood glucose, temperature, and blood pressure.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living.

JOB SUMMARY: Provide direct nursing care to the residents and supervise day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants in accordance with state and federal standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Ensure Care is coordinated, communication is consistent, and there is continuity of service.
2. Supervise CNA's as the Charge Nurse; ensure that CNA's are following physician orders.
3. Implement resident care based on physician orders. Evaluate care and communicate with doctors for updates of orders (PRN). Complete admission documentation in ECS.
4. Assist with the evaluation of residents for medical needs/changes.
5. Assist with planning resident care based on physician orders. Enter physician orders into ECS.
6. Ensure that residents are receiving their medication based on doctor’s orders/complete medication pass.
7. Maintain the medication cart including audit procedures for PRN medication and controlled medicines as defined by the nursing standards.
8. Perform skin evaluations and skin treatment as required by skin treatment protocols.
9. Monitor blood glucose, temperature, and blood pressure.
10. Assist patients/residents with Activities of Daily Living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, transferring, ambulating, toileting, and other resident needs.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Must be currently licensed in the State of Florida as a License Practical Nurse.Must be CPR Certified.

Experience and Basic Knowledge: One year of long term care desirable. Med/Surg, Home Health experience helpful. Also experience working with the handicapped, developmentally disabled, or older adults preferred.

Medical Requirement: Must be willing to receive the influenza (flu) vaccine during flu season.
