Job summary

Catawba Valley Assisted Living is seeking full or part-time Personal Care Aides. NC certification to practice as an Assisted Living Personal Care Aide preferred; training classes provided if not trained.

Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, maintaining care records, and ensuring safety and confidentiality for residents. CP R certification readiness, adherence to policies, and weekend shifts are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff and the general public.
• Be familiar with the Adult Care Home Residents’ Bill of Rights and be willing to assist residents in exercising their rights.
• Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly.
• Must demonstrate the ability to work responsibly as a team member and an individual.
• Must be honest, ethical, fair, and dependable.
• Must respect confidentiality and adhere to the rights and privacy of others in accordance with local, state and federal laws.
• Maintain practice certification and required hours of training per year.
• Exceptional organizational skills.
• Must meet all health requirements.
• Must pass criminal background check and drug screening.
• Works every other weekend

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, changing bed linens, transfer, mobility, and incontinence care.
• Maintain records of care required by the community including forms and documentation.
• Immediately report any observations of concern/changes in resident’s condition to the Supervisor-in-Charge.
• Be able to apply safety procedures for protection of residents.
• Be familiar with policies and procedures.
• Be capable of performing CPR upon successful completion of CPR certification.
• Be knowledgeable of residents’ background, preferences, habits and interests and preserve confidential information.
• Focus on service to residents during dining and promote meal time.
• Provide assistance to residents as needed with eating, carrying plates, trays or beverages.
• Laundry and cleaning functions.
• Monitor all exit doors, call and alarm systems for prompt response.
• Respond to facility telephone calls professionally.
• Understand and follow safety and infection control policies.
• Report incidents to the Supervisor-in-Charge promptly.
• Attend required stand-up meetings and in-service training.
• Participate and promote resident involvement in activities.
• Follow company values, goals and policies and procedures.
• Assist with cost control by using facility supplies efficiently.
• Ensure all employees provide excellent service to residents and visitors.
• Perform duties with courtesy and professionalism.
• Take initiative to ensure resident safety and satisfaction.
• Meet and greet visitors and ensure rights of residents are protected.
• Ensure compliance with regulations regarding residents’ rights.
