Job summary

Sylvania is seeking an assistant coach to support the head coach in directing education, leadership, supervision, and organization for the assigned interscholastic team. The role involves working closely with athletes and staff to ensure a positive, safe, and compliant program.

Responsibilities include supervising athletes at practices and games, staying updated on league rules, teaching safety practices, and promptly reporting injuries with timelines for return to play.

Qualifications

• Previous head or assistant coaching experience in the designated sport/activity.
• Strong knowledge of safety procedures and sport-specific rules.

Responsibilities

• Provides ongoing supervision of athletes before, during, and after practices, conditioning sessions, and events.
• Maintains knowledge of national, state, and district rules related to the sport and student participation.
• Teaches and emphasizes safety procedures to athletes daily throughout the season.
• Reports injuries promptly using the established forms and coordinates with staff on return-to-play timelines.
• Reports violations of rules to the Head Coach and supports related duties as needed.
• Assists other personnel by supporting them in completing work activities.
• Participates in meetings and professional development to maintain credentials.
