JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Assistant Wrestling Coach (Hired through EduStaff)

REPORTS TO: Athletic Director and Varsity Wrestling Coach

LOCATION: Benton Harbor High School

JOB SUMMARY:

The BHAS athletic coaches promote an appreciation of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The Assistant Wrestling Coach provides support, leadership, and supervision for the wrestling team and works closely with the Varsity Wrestling Coach, other coaching staff members, and the administration of the school.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma
• Minimum of High School participation in wrestling
• Experience in coaching wrestling
• Ability to work with students

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• College wrestling experience is a plus.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist the Varsity Wrestling Coach in coordinating and supervising the wrestling program.
• Promote an appreciation of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Assist in designing and implementing training programs, conditioning activities, and competition strategies.
• Assist in organizing and supervising all practices and meets to ensure that the program is properly managed.
• Provide instruction and guidance in wrestling fundamentals, techniques, and strategies.
• Support the Varsity Wrestling Coach in developing student-athletes' skills, discipline, and teamwork.
• Ensure that all athletic activities conform to the BHAS Athletic Handbook.
• Follow applicable MHSAA rules, policies, and guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community.
• Work effectively with booster clubs and other community organizations, if applicable.
• React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
• Ensure that student-athletes adhere to training rules, grade policies, and rules of behavior.
• Ensure the continual supervision of student-athletes during practices, meets, conditioning, and in the locker/shower room.
• Promote safe wrestling techniques and appropriate conditioning practices.
• Assist in maintaining wrestling equipment and ensuring the safety of practice and competition areas.
• Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas, and techniques.
• Support the value of education.
• Other duties as assigned by the Varsity Wrestling Coach or Athletic Director.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Stipend position. This position is hired through a third-party vendor, EDUStaff.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Athletic Director and Varsity Wrestling Coach.
