Job summary

Benton Harbor Area Schools seeks a Varsity Wrestling Coach to lead the wrestling program at the high school. The role includes supervising the team, coordinating practices, and collaborating with the Athletic Director and staff to promote athletics and sportsmanship.

The coach will design training plans, organize meets, ensure compliance with district policies, and engage with booster clubs and the community while modeling the value of education and student development.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Minimum of High School participation in wrestling.
• Experience coaching wrestling.
• Ability to work with students.
• College playing experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise the Wrestling program.
• Promote an appreciation of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Design a training program and game program.
• Organize and supervise all practices and meets to ensure that the program is properly managed.
• Ensure that all athletic activities conform to the BHAS Athletic Handbook.
• Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community.
• Work effectively with booster clubs and other community organizations, if applicable.
• React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
• Ensure that student-athletes adhere to training rules, grade policies, and rules of behavior.
• Ensure the continual supervision of student-athletes on the court, in conditioning, and in the locker/shower room.
• Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas, and techniques.
• Support the value of education.
• Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director

JOB SUMMARY:

The BHAS athletic coaches promote an appreciation of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The Varsity Wrestling coach provides leadership and supervision for the team and works closely with the other coaching staff members and the administration of the school.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma
• Minimum of High School participation in the sport
• Experience in coaching in the sport
• Ability to work with students

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• College playing experience is a plus.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Stipend position. This position is hired through a third-party vendor, EDUStaff.

Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Athletic Director
