Job summary

Pocatello/Chubbuck School District No is seeking an athletic coach at Irving Middle School to provide student athletes with opportunities to develop discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship as part of a dedicated school athletic program.

The role requires Idaho Teacher Certification or NFHS/ASEP certification and prior player/coach experience, with responsibilities spanning relationship management, program promotion, staffing, budgeting, and compliance with district and IHSAA policies.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a player and/or coach

Responsibilities

• Develop plans to maintain positive relationships with student-athletes and encourage high participation.
• Keep administration informed about program aspects and potential concerns.
• Build a coaching staff with defined roles that collaborates well.
• Promote the athletic program by supporting other coaches and their programs.
• Maintain excellent relationships with staff, booster clubs, parents, cheerleaders, music department, media, and the public.
• Help the school meet its goals in athletic areas.
• Create a successful all-around sports program with a solid philosophy.
• Demonstrate knowledge of sport skills, offensive and defensive techniques, and game strategy.
• Develop student-athletes and teams physically and emotionally.
• Maintain discipline and teach sportsmanship, citizenship, and fair play.
• Motivate student-athletes to achieve their best.
• Maintain organizational efficiency for a smoothly run program.
• Provide supervision for student-athletes at all times during participation.
• Prevent, care for, and report injuries with trainer coordination.
• Adhere to IHSAA, district, school, and athletic department policies.
• Oversee equipment and uniforms, keeping an up-to-date inventory.
• Manage the sports budget following proper fundraising and purchasing procedures.
• Coordinate scheduling, transportation, fundraising, eligibility, facility use, and IHSAA reporting with activities staff.

Education
