Job summary

Angelo State University seeks an Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach to aid the NCAA Division II program in daily operations and athlete development.

You will assist practice planning, recruit prospective student‑athletes, support academics, and help manage game days and travel. This role requires engagement with the community and professional representation of the program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
• Soccer coaching experience and/or collegiate playing experience.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends and travel as required.

Job description

Assists the Head Women’s Soccer Coach with the administration and daily operation of the NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer program. Supports all aspects of the program, including coaching, recruiting, student‑athlete development, compliance, game and event operations, and community engagement. Promotes a positive student‑athlete experience that encourages academic achievement, competitive success, leadership development, and sportsmanship while representing Angelo State University in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Supports the administration and daily operation of the Women’s Soccer program and ensures compliance with all NCAA , Lone Star Conference, Angelo State University, and Texas Tech University System policies, rules, and regulations.
• Assists the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices, training sessions, and competitive activities while providing instruction in soccer fundamentals, techniques, strategies, and conditioning.
• Assists in the identification, evaluation, and recruitment of prospective student‑athletes who demonstrate the academic and athletic potential to contribute to the program.
• Supports student‑athlete success by encouraging academic achievement, personal development, leadership, and overall well‑being.
• Provides guidance and support to graduate assistant coaches, student assistants, managers, and student‑athletes while assisting with program administration, game‑day operations, event management, and team travel.
• Supports the visibility and success of the Women’s Soccer program through community engagement, public relations activities, camps, clinics, fundraising initiatives, and other outreach efforts.
• Represents Angelo State University, the Athletics Department, and the Women’s Soccer program in a professional and positive manner with students, alumni, supporters, and the community.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of soccer fundamentals, techniques, strategies, rules, and conditioning principles.
• Knowledge of NCAA , conference, and University rules, regulations, and policies.
• Ability to instruct, motivate, and develop student‑athletes.
• Ability to identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student‑athletes.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, coaches, staff, and community stakeholders.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and travel.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Soccer coaching experience and/or collegiate playing experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of soccer fundamentals, techniques, strategies, and player development.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
• Intercollegiate soccer coaching experience, preferably at the NCAA level.
• Experience recruiting prospective student‑athletes.
• Experience working in a collegiate athletics environment.
