Job summary

Northgate Middle School in Kansas City, Missouri seeks an Assistant Color/Winter Guard Coach to lead flag routines, organize tryouts, and coordinate performances with the band program. This part-time role reports to the Activities Director and focuses on developing discipline, teamwork, and performance quality.

The position requires significant availability for camps, games, and parades, plus the ability to work with students to build confidence and skill in color guard activities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of sixty college hours from an accredited college or university.
• A valid Missouri Teaching Certificate is preferred.
• Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Organize and hold flag/auxiliary tryouts and select flag corps members.
• Attend all band camp rehearsals and summer band camp.
• Write all flag routines and coordinate them with the band director and the half time show.
• Coordinate and attend all flag performances at home football games.
• Provide routines and performance opportunities for four basketball games.
• Attend Snake Saturday, Gladfest and homecoming parades.
• Responsible for all flag equipment and uniforms.
• Adheres to good safety practices.
• Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
• Adheres to all district rules, regulations and policies.
• Other duties as required or assigned.

Education

Missouri Teaching Certificate preferred
