Job summary

The Pullman School District invites applications for an Assistant Volleyball Coach at Lincoln Middle School in Pullman, Washington. This is a stipend position for the school year with a salary range of $2,648 to $3,098 and a starting date of August 26, 2026.

The role supports the Head Coach in developing and maintaining a successful athletic program, coordinating player development, preparing for games, and promoting the program within the community while complying with WIAA and district

Qualifications

  • Evidence of successful competitive playing and/or coaching experience.
  • Must be 19 years old per WIAA regulations.
  • Current First Aid/CPR card.

Responsibilities

  • Work positively with student athletes to teach essential athletic skills and attitudes.
  • Game preparation.
  • Positive presentation of the program to the community.
  • Work within guidelines of WIAA, Bi-State League and the Pullman School District.
  • Provide leadership in developmental programs.
  • Coordinate player development and skill level.
  • Cooperate with other school programs.
  • Develop support for the program from players, students, parents and community.
  • Adjust system to player personnel available upon recommendation of head coach.
  • Possess and practice strong interpersonal skills with a wide variety of people.
  • Be a positive team builder who works in a collaborative manner.
  • Meet multiple demands in pressure situations and maintain high levels of quality work.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
  • Regularly demonstrate professionalism in appearance, actions, decisions, and overall performance.
  • Work with minimal supervision and be flexible.

DEFINITION OF POSITION : To assist in the development and maintenance of a successful athletic program

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR : Head Coach

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Evidence of successful competitive playing and/or coaching experience
  • Must be 19 years old per WIAA regulations
  • Current First Aid/CPR card
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • College/University training or experience in the activity
  • Coaching experience at the middle school level
ESSENTIAL JOB-RELATED ACTIVITIES
  • Work positively with student athletes to teach essential athletic skills necessary to compete, teach proper attitudes to play the sport competitively, and teach proper attitudes regarding winning gracefully and losing with dignity
  • Game preparation
  • Positive presentation of the program to the community
  • Work within guidelines of WIAA, Bi-State League and the Pullman School District
  • Provide leadership in developmental programs
  • Coordinate player development and skill level
  • Cooperate with other school programs

TERMS OF CONTRACT
  • Salary: Stipend Position: $2,648-$3,098 per school year – The filling of this position is dependent upon the number of participants.
