Responsibilities

Assistant Volleyball Coach Job Description
Position Summary

The Assistant Volleyball Coach supports the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and conducting volleyball practices and competitions. This position helps develop student‑athletes' technical skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and character while ensuring a safe, positive, and competitive environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Coach with planning and conducting practices, drills, and game strategies.
  • Teach and demonstrate volleyball fundamentals, techniques, and rules.
  • Provide individual and team instruction to improve player performance.
  • Help prepare athletes physically and mentally for practices and competitions.
  • Supervise student‑athletes during practices, games, travel, and team activities.
  • Promote teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
  • Assist with game‑day setup, equipment management, and facility organization.
  • Monitor player attendance, effort, and academic eligibility as required.
  • Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, coaching staff, and school administrators.
  • Ensure compliance with league, conference, and organizational rules and policies.
  • Support injury prevention by promoting proper warm‑ups, conditioning, and safe playing techniques.
  • Assist with fundraising, team events, camps, and community outreach activities as needed.
  • Perform other related duties assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director.
Qualifications

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and actively participate during practices and competitions.

  • Lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
Working Conditions
  • Indoor gymnasium and occasional outdoor training environments.
  • Evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required during the volleyball season.
