Job summary

King William County Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Varsity Softball Coach for King William High School in Virginia. The position supports the head coach, manages practice planning, strength and conditioning aspects, and assists in supervising student-athletes' academic progress.

The role requires knowledge of softball rules, strong communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with the athletic director and head coach.

Qualifications

• Must possess knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.
• Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Qualified to teach in Virginia; current license preferred.
• Current CDL with passenger endorsement highly recommended.
• High school coaching experience in the sport is highly recommended.

Responsibilities

• Instruct players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
• Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises.
• Assesses players' skills, monitors players during competition and practice, and tracks academic progress.
• Develops the program with head varsity coach to ensure student-athlete success on and off the field.
• Determines game strategy in collaboration with the varsity coach.
• Supervises athletes during practices and competition.
• Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct toward players, officials, and spectators.
• Maintains equipment room and secures equipment and uniforms.
• Distributes and maintains eligibility forms and records.
• Attends staff development meetings and clinics to improve coaching performance.
