Job summary

King William County Public Schools in Virginia is seeking a part-time Head JV Softball Coach at King William High School. The role involves program building, planning, managing, and directing the JV softball program, and working with the head varsity coach on scheduling and evaluation of student athletes.

Responsibilities include adhering to VHSL rules, managing equipment and budget, submitting forms on time, and promoting sportsmanship.

Qualifications

Previous experience coaching softball.
Thorough knowledge of VHSL rules and regulations.
Proven ability to lead and motivate student-athletes.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Bachelor's degree and Virginia teaching license preferred.

Responsibilities

Instruct players in rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
Organize and direct individual and small group practice activities/exercises.
Assess players' skills and monitor performance during competition and practice.
Collaborate with varsity coach to develop program and ensure student-athlete success.
Supervise athletes during practices and competition.
Follow procedures in case of athlete injury.
Model sportsmanship and maintain conduct toward players, officials, and spectators.
Maintain equipment room and secure equipment.
Distribute equipment, supplies, and uniforms as needed.
Participate in parent nights, banquets, awards nights, and pep assemblies.
Distribute and maintain eligibility forms and related records.
Model non-discriminatory practices in all activities.
Attend staff development meetings and clinics to improve coaching.
Perform other related duties as assigned by varsity coach and Athletic Director.
