Job summary

Assistant Varsity Girls Basketball Coach

Durham Academy is accepting applications for part-time varsity assistant girls basketball coach. The season runs from late October through mid- February.

Job Responsibilities:

Assist with tryouts and team selection in consultation with the V Head Coach and the Varsity coaching staff

Help plan and execute effective practices

Assist Head Coach with game strategy

Drive a minibus to all road games

Collaborate with all coaches in the girls basketball program and DA Athletics trainers, staff, administration and faculty

Candidates should expect a regular weekday commitment of 90 minute practices with two-three games per week. This position reports to both the Varsity Girls Basketball Head Coach and the Director of Athletics.

The ideal candidate will have the following characteristics:

Experience playing or coaching basketball at the interscholastic or collegiate level.

A commitment to providing a safe, healthy, joyful environment for practice and play

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

An ability and eagerness to maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with all members of the school community (student-athletes, families, alumni, teachers, administrators and fellow coaches)

The ability to lead student-athletes with competitive energy and formative care
