Job summary

Florida State University seeks an Assistant Turf Manager, Operations to lead the Athletics Turf staff and oversee day-to-day turf management across the facility's fields.

Responsibilities include planning and directing spray programs, coordinating annual and daily programming with the Athletic Grounds Program Director, and guiding turfgrass services such as field painting and infield dirt maintenance while minimizing conflicts with games and events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 3 years' turf management experience, or high school diploma with 7 years of related experience.
• Must obtain a Florida Category 3 Fertilizer and Pest Control License within 6 months of hire.
• A valid Florida or Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain one upon hire.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the management and direction of the Athletics Turf staff assigned to this position on a day to day basis in their support of the mission of the athletics department to provide world class facilities and fields.

Responsible for spraying, planning of spray program, including scheduling and communication of spraying times to associated parties across the entire Athletic Grounds property.

Responsible for assisting the Athletic Grounds Program Director with the planning, coordination and execution of annual and daily programming.

Provides guidance and direction to the staff involved in turfgrass services and programs including but not limited to assisting with field painting, infield dirt maintenance, and synthetic turf cleanup and care.

Work with coaches and other associated parties to schedule management practices that minimize conflict with scheduled games, practices, recruiting events, and other special on field events.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and three years' experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and seven years of experience. (Note: or a combination of post high school education & experience equal to seven years.)

Must obtain a Florida Category 3 Fertilizer and Pest Control License within six months of hire.

A valid Florida or Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain one upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience preferably in Division I College Athletics, or with a Professional Sports team.
