Center for Native American Youth

The Center for Native American Youth (CNAY) at the Aspen Institute is a national education and advocacy organization working with Native youth—ages 24 and under—on reservations, in rural villages, and urban areas across the country. Our goal is to improve their health, safety, and overall well-being through empowerment and culturally-competent methodologies, including leadership development and youth-led policy advocacy.

About This Role

The Assistant, Training Facilitation, will support the delivery of the Democracy is Indigenous training program and contribute ideas for CNAY outreach to Native youth nationwide. This part-time remote role (up to 10 hours/week) reports to the Program Manager and offers an hourly rate of $20 - $24/hr.

What You Will Do

  1. Facilitate culturally relevant leadership curricula for youth initiatives, including Democracy is Indigenous.
  2. Engage tribal communities, nonprofits, and advocacy organizations via email about CNAY resources to connect youth to opportunities.
  3. Assist in editing and updating the Democracy is Indigenous workshop and training materials for relevance in 2025.
  4. Travel to conferences to present the Democracy is Indigenous training, often with another staff member.

What You Will Need To Thrive

  • Minimum two years of group facilitation or relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Experience working with Native youth and national nonprofits.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills, including public speaking.
  • High energy, flexibility, trustworthiness, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.
  • Strong alignment with the mission and values of the Center for Native American Youth and Aspen Institute.
  • Knowledge of best practices in Native youth engagement and leadership.
  • Experience in civic engagement and policy advocacy is preferred.
  • Experience facilitating large group activities and trainings is preferred.
  • Experience leading Get Out the Vote initiatives is a plus.
