The Orting School District is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Track and FieldCoach (Non-continuing)at Orting Middle School. Orting Middle School, a member of thePlateau League, is committed to providing excellence in all of its extra-curricular programs. The headcoachoverseasand runsthe entire middle school wrestling sportsprogram.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Experience in coaching/participating in track and field
  • Knowledge of track and field techniques and strategies
  • Be able to meet all W.I.A.A.requirements for the Washington State Coaching Standards
  • Ability to communicate positively and effectively with students, parents, staff and community members
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills necessary to run a solid middle school program
  • Successful experience working with teenage athletes
  • Ability to motivate teens to reach their highest potential academically through sportsmanship
  • Experience preferred
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Be high school graduate or have completed a graduation equivalency diploma (GED) program
  • Be at least 19 years of age to be an assistant coach
  • Current first aid and CPR training
  • Flexible Schedule
  • Must be available immediately after school - 2:25pm
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Location: Orting Middle School

Work Year: 2026-27 Middle School Fall Season 9/1/26 - 10/22/26

Work Start: Middle school dismissal is 2:25PM, M-Th and 12:55PM on F

For coaching positions, eligibility for benefits is determined by a number of factors, including the number of hours an employee worked during the last two (2) school years (September 1 through August 31). Coaching positions may not be benefit eligible. Benefits are administered through the Payroll Department. Additional information is available on their district web page . Regular employees who are also in coaching position(s) and are anticipated to work630 hours or more in a year are eligible for the following benefits:medical, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, long-term disability and the employee assistance program.
