The National Federation of the Blind in Baltimore, MD is seeking an Assistant to the Executive Director of Fiscal Services to support the executive director and the fiscal services department, helping manage business activities and ensure timely, accurate completion of tasks.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of standard English including grammar, punctuation, and mechanics are a must.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the executive director and other senior management as necessary.
  • Monitor the executive director’s email for follow-up and action items.
  • Manage executive director’s calendar, scheduling meetings and identifying conflicts.
  • Submit expense reports for the executive director.
  • Monitor corporate credit cards for activity and collect receipts to submit monthly statements for payment, work with other departments to ensure timely processing.
  • Monitor credit card processor accounts for unusual activity and process refunds.
  • Manage office supplies including Braille paper processing for programs.
  • Assist in processing estate/bequests including managing database, reviewing trusts and Wills, and monitoring estate/bequest email.
  • Make flight reservations for the Federation staff for the annual national convention.
  • Prepare Excel workbooks for department executives during the budget process.
  • Assist with the annual audit by preparing and submitting assigned documentation.
  • Maintain fiscal services files, including paper and electronic business records.
  • Write and maintain fiscal services processes
  • Performing other duties as assigned or determined.

Assistant to the Executive Director of Fiscal Services

The National Federation of the Blind is a membership organization of blind people from each of the fifty states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. As America's civil rights organization of the blind, the Federation is a coordinated network of skilled advocates, resources, and programs that raise expectations of the blind in society and create opportunities for blind people to live the lives they want.

The staff of the Federation are central to the organized blind movement by providing support, professional expertise, and daily contributions to the success of the organization. Working under the direction of the Federation's elected President, the staff advise the organization's leadership and contribute to the vibrant, energetic, and collaborative culture of the organization that raises expectations throughout society.

This position supports the executive director of fiscal services and the fiscal services department to help manage the business activities of the National Federation of the Blind. The assistant performs tasks across all sections of the department, working with team members as well as the organization’s senior management and members to make sure the diverse tasks and projects are completed timely and accurately.

The executive assistant must be highly motivated, organized, confident, and detail-oriented to manage multiple tasks in a fast-past environment. We seek someone with executive assistant or nonprofit experience who wants to be part of the National Federation of the Blind and our mission.

Education and Experience
  • Education or relevant work experience to demonstrate requisite skills and ability to complete the duties of the position.
  • Three to five years of executive assistant experience.
Compensation and Benefits

The pay range for this position is 60,000 to 64,000 dollars per year.
