Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group (QISG) is seeking an entry-level Assistant Technical Writer to support the Engineering organization by drafting, editing, and formatting technical documents, proposals, SOPs, and other written deliverables.

This role is ideal for a developing writer looking to build a career in technical communications, collaborating with engineering, proposals, and business operations teams to ensure clear, consistent, and professional output.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, or other relevant writing discipline.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Willingness to work onsite at one of our existing engineering offices, preferably Spokane, WA; Portland, OR; or Boise, ID.

Responsibilities

  • Drafts, edits, and proofs technical documents, proposals, reports, and internal communications for clarity, grammar, and consistency.
  • Supports formatting, styling, and version control of written deliverables for Engineering and Proposals teams.
  • Maintains document templates and style guides to ensure a consistent voice across deliverables.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining SOPs and internal reference materials.
  • Coordinates with subject matter experts to translate technical content into clear writing.
  • Supports layout, formatting, and light graphic coordination for proposals and presentations.
  • Proofreads and quality-checks documents prior to distribution or submission.
  • Identifies and communicates document or process issues with proposed solutions.

This entry-level role is well suited to a developing writer who wants to build a career in technical and engineering communications, working closely with engineering, proposals, and business operations teams to ensure documents are clear, consistent, and professionally presented.

What You'll Do

Duties

  • Drafts, edits, and proofreads technical documents, job descriptions, proposals, reports, and internal communications for clarity, grammar, and consistency
  • Supports the Engineering and Proposals teams with formatting, styling, and version control of written deliverables
  • Maintains and applies document templates and style guides to ensure a consistent voice and format across deliverables
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and internal reference materials
  • Coordinates with subject matter experts across engineering disciplines to translate technical content into clear, well-organized writing
  • Supports layout, formatting, and light graphic coordination for proposals and presentations
  • Proofreads and quality-checks documents prior to distribution or submission
  • Brings potential document or process-related issues, along with possible solutions, to the attention of the responsible party
  • Takes personal responsibility for the quality, accuracy, and professionalism of all written work product
What You'll Bring
Required Experience and Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, or other relevant writing discipline
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Willingness to work onsite at one of our existing engineering offices, preferably Spokane, WA; Portland, OR; or Boise, ID
Competencies & Skills
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with excellent attention to detail
  • Any relevant publications or published writing samples are a plus
  • Prior experience in a technical, engineering, or corporate writing environment
  • Familiarity with AP style or other formal technical writing standards
Travel Requirements
  • Travel: Minimal- up to 5% of the time, as needed for coordination with engineering offices
