The Department of Risk Management in the Smeal College of Business at The Pennsylvania State University (University Park) invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in Real Estate. The duties of this position involve engaging in effective teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. Experience with or interest in online teaching is preferred. This is a term appointment, funded for one year from the date of hire, with a possibility of renewal.
The Assistant Teaching Professor should possess a Ph.D. degree in real estate, economics, finance, or a closely related field by the start date. Alternatively, candidates without a terminal degree should have at least a master's degree and demonstrate ability as a teacher, along with evidence of professional growth, scholarship, and/or mastery of the subject matter. Candidates with an established research agenda or industry experience are preferred.
The Department of Risk Management hosts faculty in Actuarial Science, Business Economics, Business Law, Enterprise Risk Management, International Business, and Real Estate. It includes the Borrelli Institute for Real Estate Studies (BIRES), a research institution fostering collaboration between academia and industry professionals. The department offers undergraduate majors in Real Estate, Actuarial Science, and Enterprise Risk Management, as well as a Certificate in Real Estate Analysis and Development, and a Master of Science in Real Estate Analysis and Development (STEM certified). We also have a strong PhD program in Real Estate.
