Job summary

Head Start - Post Falls seeks an early childhood professional to plan engaging learning experiences and maintain a safe, welcoming classroom environment. You will support children’s developmental, social, and emotional needs, assist with screenings, assessments, and goal setting, and build strong relationships with families and partners.

You’ll participate in professional development, handle daily routines including care activities, and step into the lead classroom role when required.

Qualifications

  • Education: Level I CDA credential or state credential, enrolled in a program leading to an degree, or in a CDA program to be completed within two years.
  • Level II: Associate in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or related field with ECE/Child Development major.

Job description

In this role, you'll partner with the classroom team to plan and implement engaging learning experiences, foster a safe, healthy, organized, and welcoming classroom environment, and ensure active supervision while supporting the developmental, social, and emotional needs of every child. You'll assist with child screenings, assessments, documentation, and individualized goal setting, build positive relationships with children, families, coworkers, and community partners, and support children with disabilities and daily care routines, including feeding and toileting. You'll also help maintain efficient center operations, participate in professional development, and step into the lead classroom role when needed.

We're seeking someone who brings strong interpersonal and customer service skills, values teamwork, and communicates with professionalism and respect. The ideal candidate has a positive approach to early childhood education, health, and family services, is comfortable using common computer applications and data systems, and demonstrates sound judgment, confidentiality, and ethical decision‑making. Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Level I: A CDA (Child Development Associate) credential or a state‑awarded certificate that meets or exceeds the requirements for a CDA credential, are enrolled in a program that will lead to an associate or bachelor's degree, or are enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years of the time of hire; Level II: An associate in Early Childhood Education, or Child Development OR an associate degree in any other field of study AND a major in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
  • Experience: Experience as a staff or volunteer in a preschool classroom.
Required License and/or Certifications
  • Register with Idaho STARS and participate in the professional development system.
  • Maintain current Infant/child & Adult CPR and First Aid.
  • Pass an enhanced background check including fingerprinting, as required by Head Start Program Performance Standards and Child Care Licensing requirements, prior to first day of work.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Positive approach to Early Childhood Development programs, health, and social services.
  • Working knowledge of commonly used computer software programs including data collection systems.
  • Demonstrate professional ethics and confidentiality.
  • Represent the Head Start program in the community and with other professionals, positively and with professionalism.
Starting Pay Range

$17.51 - $18.54

August through June part‑time
