Qualifications

• Valid CDA with 12 ECE credits.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in ECE or related field with 12 ECE credits.
• Enrollment in a program leading to an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in ECE or related field with 12 ECE credits to be completed within three years.
• Enrollment in a CDA credential program and 12 ECE credits to be completed within two years.
• Reliable, insured transportation.
• CT child care first-aid, child CPR, and medication administration certification (or obtain and maintain).
• TVCCA Statement of Good Health signed within 12 months and every 36 months for current staff.
• Ability to interact with children for up to 8 hours; flexible hours.

Job description

The Assistant Teacher is responsible for the care, supervision, and safety of classroom children. Assist staff in planning and implementing age-appropriate curriculum. Responsible for keeping classroom and playground clean, safe, and orderly. Must have compassion and understanding of needs of children and families from all backgrounds. Must learn, implement, and follow all program policies and procedures. Encourage self-esteem and independence for the social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs of each child. Ensure that health, safety and nutritional education is integrated into the overall curriculum planning.
